NEW YORK ? Actress Paz de la Huerta admitted Thursday that she harassed a reality TV figure in a confrontation that authorities said was laced with ill will about their respective claims to fame.
"I'm extremely glad this is over," the "Boardwalk Empire" actress said after acknowledging in court that she threatened to hit Samantha Swetra in March at a bar at a chic Manhattan hotel.
De la Huerta pleaded guilty to harassment, a violation that is akin to a traffic ticket. Her plea deal calls for a day of community service and 12 weeks of alcohol counseling.
While the criminal case is ending, de la Huerta still faces a lawsuit from Swetra, a fashion buyer who appeared on the MTV reality series "The City." Swetra's lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, said she would continue "to pursue the case vigorously."
De la Huerta, who on Thursday declined to discuss the encounter, was accused of punching Swetra in the face, giving her a bloody nose, and tossing a glass that left cuts in Swetra's leg at around 4 a.m. March 20 at the Standard Hotel.
De la Huerta, who plays a lead character's girlfriend in HBO's "Boardwalk Empire," then made some cutting remarks about Swetra to police, according to a criminal complaint.
"I'm a real actress ? HBO. She's a publicity-seeker, a fake actress," de la Huerta said, according to the document.
Swetra appeared in several episodes of "The City." The show followed Whitney Port, a star of MTV's Los Angeles-based reality hit "The Hills," as she moved to New York to work for designer Diane von Furstenberg.
Swetra still has breathing problems because of injuries to her nasal bone during her encounter with de la Huerta, Ovadia said.
De la Huerta plays politician Enoch "Nucky" Thompson's fiery girlfriend, Lucy Danziger, on the HBO series, set in a Prohibition-era Atlantic City, N.J. The 26-year-old actress has appeared in films including "The Cider House Rules," "A Walk to Remember" and "The Limits of Control."
She is headed to Toronto in the coming weeks to star in the forthcoming thriller "Nurse 3D," about a dedicated nurse with a dark side. The second season of "Boardwalk Empire" begins airing in September.
"The audience will get a chance to see the real Lucy ? Lucy stripped of all her makeup ? and, hopefully, be compassionate of what she goes through," de la Huerta said of her character, who was revealed to be pregnant as the first season ended.

LONDON (AFP) ? England rugby hero Mike Tindall, who will enter Britain's royal family when he marries Zara Phillips on Saturday, admits the couple are like "fire and ice".
One could be forgiven for thinking the burly, broken-nosed, shaven-headed battler was the hothead and the regal horserider with delicate features would be the more cool and calm.
However, Tindall insists the reverse is true -- and Phillips, Queen Elizabeth II's grand-daughter and so-called "royal rebel", agrees with him.
"The fire and ice thing is true to a certain extent," he told Reader's Digest.
"Being angry doesn't come naturally to me. Zara isn't like that. She?ll say how she feels and show her emotions."
Phillips is a driven character, having been told she would not be getting an easy ride in life by her no-nonsense mother Princess Anne, who stopped her and her brother Peter from having royal titles.
Phillips admitted in a BBC radio interview that while she was "obsessive" and busy about the house, Tindall was "very laid back... he's practically horizontal".
"He's quite good to live with as long as he's getting his food. He doesn't cook. I'm threatening to send him on cooking lessons," she added.
Some thought the relationship wouldn't work as their backgrounds are so different.
However, they found mutual understanding in being world-beating sports stars and knowing the sanctity of precious time away from the buzz and strains of top-level competition.
Tindall was part of England's victorious 2003 World Cup campaign in Australia, while Phillips won the individual gold at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany.
"That's the way we like our lives. Low-key, with lots of sport and as much time together as possible," he said.
Phillips was born to the queen's only daughter and horseman Captain Mark Phillips, who won gold for Britain in the team three-day event at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
The British press dubbed feisty Phillips a "royal rebel" after she had her tongue pierced as a teenager.
Tindall, from Yorkshire in northern England, is the son of a prison worker father, while his mother is a social worker. One of his first jobs was serving fish and chips.
However, his prominence in rugby brought him close to royal circles.
"To start with, people wondered whether our backgrounds were too different, but it's not a problem," Tindall said.
"I've been on the edge of her world all the time I've been playing rugby. I know (Princes) William and Harry because they are great England supporters, and I've played against Peter (who represented Scottish Schools).
"Zara's mum is patron of the Scottish Rugby Union so I've known her for years. They're good, fun people, all of them. They're just a normal family."
His parents were "unfazed" when he said he was going out with Phillips, who is 13th in line to the throne.
The couple met as he celebrated England's World Cup win in Sydney.
"They just want me to be happy. They can see I am, so they are not worried, plus they love Zara," the Gloucester skipper said.
Tindall's best man is Biarritz back Iain Balshaw, also part of England's World Cup-winning squad.
"It was quite early on that you could tell they were going to be together forever, he said.
"She's very happy with him and you can see they adore one another. He loves her for who she is, not what she is, and that's important to her."

Another good time management motivation trick is to think of the fact that whatever chore you are about to do, it won?t last long. Compare vacuuming, for example, with serving in the army and being sent abroad to fight in a war. Or compare hitting the books before a test to spending time in prison. Once you make such comparisons, you?ll start counting your blessings.
One last thing to keep in mind is that upon completing certain jobs you may earn some rewards.. If you know that after vacuuming, for example, you can have a dish of ice cream, you are less likely to be grumpy. When you have some reward awaiting you after a chore, the chore becomes less of a burden.
It seems, therefore, that time management is not such a big thing after all. If you can keep things on the light side, you are going to obtain the best of time management motivation under your belt.

It has been related in Hadith that a man once came to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) carrying with him his belongings and a box. He said, ?O Prophet! While I was passing through a jungle, I heard the voice of some bird?s chicks. I took them and put them in this box. The moment I did that, their mother came fluttering round my head.? And that too, not once for each letter, but ten times for each letter.
As is very obvious from this Hadith the rewards of reading Quran are ten times the original reward. This means that one is not rewarded for reading Quran once for one reading session, nor is one rewarded once for each page, nor once for each Ayah of the Quran, nor even once for each word of the Quran, but, in fact, one is rewarded for each and every letter of the Quran. And that too, not once for each letter, but ten times for each letter.
Is there any task, duty, job, or any other work in this world where one is rewarded ten times in comparison to the amount of work one has accomplished? Definitely not! To speak the truth, only a selfish person who is rewarding himself would go to this extent of rewarding oneself many times over. Yet Allaah Almighty loves us more than a mother cares about her children.
Indeed, only a benevolent, generous, and extremely merciful Allaah who loves us more than a mother loves her offspring can reward us ten times for each letter of the Quran, even though we are not doing Allaah any favor by reading Quran and learning Quran only benefits us.

Hundreds of animal advocates will greet circus-goers at the Staples Center on Wednesday for a massive, history-making demonstration being called ?The Greatest Circus Protest on Earth.? The protest is organized by Animal Defenders International (ADI) and other groups on the opening night of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Los Angeles. Organizers expect this year?s turnout of advocates will far outnumber last year, where more than 300 people came out to ask circus-goers to ?Break The Chain? of circus suffering by staying away from Ringling?s circus performances.
ADI will have on hand and demonstrate a bullhook and stun gun, the weapons used in the violent training of elephants. The bullhook has sharpened metal tips which are used to poke and ?hook? elephants in tender areas of their bodies, and the stun gun is an electric shocking device that can deliver millions of volts of electricity.
?Ironically, Ringling?s new show, called Fully Charged, promises a ?surge of circus entertainment,? but the compassionate public is unaware that it is the elephants who are truly getting shocked with stun guns, hit and ?hooked? with bullhooks in abusive behind-the-scenes training sessions,? said ADI?s Campaigns Director, Matt Rossell. ?Kids should be empowered to help the animals they love, and as parents, we can facilitate this by choosing entertainment for them that does not involve animal cruelty.?

MEHTERLAM, Afghanistan ? NATO handed over responsibility for the security of the capital of an eastern province to Afghan forces Tuesday, the latest step in a transition process that will lead to the withdrawal of all foreign combat troops by the end of 2014.
The U.S.-led coalition has started a process of transferring security in parts of the country where they feel Afghan forces are strong enough to take control, although so far that has largely been restricted to provincial capitals as much of the country remains lawless and unstable after a decade of war.
U.S. forces turned over control of Mehterlam, the capital of Laghman province, but they'll retain responsibility for the other areas in the predominantly Pashtun province that remain under the influence of the Taliban and other insurgent groups.
NATO officials said the handover sent a powerful signal that progress is being made.
"Above all, it is a tangible demonstration to the Afghan people of the growing capacity of this government and its increasing ability to improve citizen's lives," said Lt. Gen. James Bucknall, deputy commander of coalition forces.
Mehterlam is one of seven areas being transferred to the Afghan government this month, the first phase in a three and-a-half year plan that will eventually see the entire country under Afghan control.
On Sunday, the peaceful province of Bamiyan was handed over, while the transition process has begun in northern Panjshir. The two, which have seen little violence, are the only entire provinces to be handed over. The other provincial capitals in line to be transferred are Lashkar Gah in southern Afghanistan, Herat in the west and Mazer-e-Sharif in the north. Afghan forces will also take control of all of Kabul province except for the restive Surobi district.
Violence has increased around the country since President Hamid Karzai announced on March 22 that government forces would take control of the seven areas.
In the latest example, seven police officers were killed Monday at a checkpoint near Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province that is among those slated to be handed over this month. Provincial spokesman Daoud Ahmadi said one of their colleagues killed them, then escaped in a police vehicle loaded with weapons.
Much of the violence can be attributed to efforts by the Taliban to take back control of territory they lost to NATO and U.S. forces over the winter, but attacks also have spread to the east and along provinces that border Pakistan, where insurgents retain safe havens.
In April, an attack in Mazar-i-Sharif killed 11 people ? including seven foreign U.N. employees. Kabul also has experienced a rash of attacks, including the killing earlier this week of Jan Mohammad Khan, a close aide to Karzai and former governor of Uruzgan province.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari flew to Kabul for a very short visit to pay his condolences to Karzai for the loss of his half brother, Ahmed Wali Karzai, who was assassinated last week in the southern city of Kandahar. A statement from Karzai's office said they also spoke about bilateral issues.
Ashraf Ghani, a government official who is leading the transition effort, acknowledged that the security situation in the east had deteriorated even as it improved in the south.
"We acknowledge that eastern Afghanistan has become insecure," Ghani said. But he stressed the importance of continuing the handover process, saying the persistent violence does not mean it should not be attempted in safe places.
Karzai spokesman Waheed Omar said Monday that militants are launching attacks in the seven transition areas to try to disrupt the transition process, but he insisted that insurgents have been driven out of their strongholds and the intimidation campaign does not mean they are regaining strength.
"The Taliban had strongholds in the south. Now they have lost those areas," he said. "They are not capable of standing and fighting in the battlefield."
