If you are a scrapbooker, chances are that you also do other crafts such as quilting and sewing. This could be very useful, especially if you have enough material on that you have saved but do not know why! There are several things you can do with the content of the pages of your album. The good thing is, you need very little equipment and can get the vestige of use scrapbook pages.
Search hardware that is not too busy or colorful background and you can do it on your layout. Not only the technical background fast, but it is your page depth and texture.
To use up remnants of a very small reasonable thickness covering a piece of cardboard to avoid bending when you cover it. Either the material strip on the back of the adhesive or the use of cards. The card must be large enough to make a border around your main photo. Now you can attach your photo in the center of the card. The black and white you can use virtually any piece of content.
Other use of your content embellishments for your layout. To make a flower you need a small circle of double-sided adhesive paper on one inch in diameter (I use paper ?Jac?). Cut a strip of say 2 inches wide and 7.5 inches long. Delaminate one side of the circle and one end of the adhesive material, because of which the center of the circle. Now work your way around the circle, gather the material in about half an inch bites until you work your way to the right around the circle. To hold the material in place, whether basic or just use a few points to keep. You really need to hide the staple or sew and I would do great with brads or buttons. Everything you do now that you back off the sticky paper and put the flower on your main page.

As you know, I wish I could help every cause (you saw my email response to Leagan E. Kespril last night.)? I just read some GretaWire comments and decided to respond to this one below from wilson627 (and no, I can?t answer all of the comments but I try to read all of them.)?
As a result of this comment copied below, I have gone on line, found the CBS article also posted below and given a contribution to Horses Haven Rescue in Michigan.? I do not know anything about them and I am not not not not trying to guilt trip any of you into likewise making a contribution ? I know you all have other groups you like to help (and of course my favorite animal is PetConnectRescue and I confess I always do urge you to help them out.? I do know PetConnectRescue and can vouch for them that every cent given goes to the pets and not to salaries. It is run completely by volunteers.)? I gave this time to Horses Haven Rescue because I read wilson627?s comment and because I am in a position to contribute.

(AP Photo/Canadian Press, File)
TORONTO (AP) ? The last Western detainee held at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay returned to Canada Saturday after a decade in custody following his capture in Afghanistan at age 15 after being wounded in a firefight with U.S. soldiers, officials said.
Canadian Public Safety Minister Vic Toews said that 26-year-old Omar Khadr arrived at a Canadian military base on a U.S. government plane early Saturday and was transferred to the Millhaven maximum security prison in Bath, Ontario.
The son of an alleged al-Qaida financier, Khadr pleaded guilty in 2010 to killing a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan and was eligible to return to Canada from Guantanamo Bay last October under terms of a plea deal.
But Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative government had long refused to request the return of Khadr, the youngest detainee held at Guantanamo. The reluctance was partly due to suspicions about the Khadr family, which has been called "the first family of terrorism."
The U.S. Defense Department confirmed the transfer in a statement and said 166 detainees remain in detention at Guantanamo Bay.
The Toronto-born Khadr was 15 when he was captured in 2002 in Afghanistan, and has spent a decade at the Guantanamo prison set up on the U.S. naval base in Cuba to hold suspected terrorists after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. He received an eight-year sentence in 2010 after being convicted of throwing a grenade that killed Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer during a 2002 firefight.
"His head is spinning a bit and it's going to be a real adjustment for him, but at the same time he is so happy to be home," John Norris, Khadr's Canadian lawyer, said after speaking with his client.
"He can't believe that it is finally true. He simply can't. For very good reason he was quite fearful that the government would not follow through on its word and he's pinching himself right now not believing that this government has finally kept its word," he said.
Norris said Khadr would be eligible for parole as early as the summer of 2013. He said Khadr's return to Canada comes 10 years too late.
Toews said the U.S. government initiated Khadr's transfer and suggested that Canada had little choice but to accept him because he is a Canadian citizen. It will be up to Canada's national parole board to release him, Toews said.
"Omar Khadr is a known supporter of the al-Qaida terrorist network and a convicted terrorist," Toews said.
Toews called for "robust conditions of supervision" if Khadr is granted parole. Toews said in his written decision that he reviewed all the files forwarded by the U.S. government and said the parole board should consider his concerns that Omar "idealizes" his father and "appears to deny "Ahmed Khadr's lengthy history of terrorist action and association with al-Qaida."
Toews also said that Omar Khadr's mother and sister "have openly applauded" his father's "crimes and terrorist activities" and noted that Omar has had "little contact with Canadian society and will require substantial management in order to ensure safe integration in Canada."
"I am satisfied the Correctional Service of Canada can administer Omar Khadr's sentence in a manner which recognizes the serious nature of the crimes that he has committed and ensure the safety of Canadians is protected during incarceration," Toews said.
Norris said it is regrettable that the minister is trying to influence the parole board.
"Most of what he has said there is simply not true. It's part of the stereotype of Omar that this government has been disseminating from the beginning," Norris said.
He added that once the Correctional Service "will get to know Omar" they will "recommend appropriate conditions."
Defense attorneys have said Khadr was pushed into fighting the Americans in Afghanistan by his father, Ahmed Said Khadr, an alleged al-Qaida financier whose family stayed with Osama bin Laden briefly when Omar Khadr was a boy.
The Egyptian-born father was killed in 2003 when a Pakistani military helicopter shelled the house where he was staying with senior al-Qaida operatives. Omar's youngest brother lives in Toronto and is paralyzed after being shot in the attack that killed his father.
Another brother was released from a Canadian jail last year after successfully fighting extradition to the U.S. on charges he supplied al-Qaida with weapons in Pakistan.
The father was arrested in Pakistan in 1995 after a bomb attack targeting the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad, but was released after former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien appealed to Pakistan to give him due process. Canada was embarrassed when he later emerged as a senior al-Qaida figure. Canadian governments have since been refused to speak out on behalf of the Khadr family.
Omar was found in the rubble of a bombed-out compound badly wounded and near death in Afghanistan in 2002. His case received international attention after some dubbed him a child soldier.
Khadr's family did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment about his release. Norris said he told the family Saturday morning that Omar had returned to Canada.
Norris said it's not for him to say whether Omar should live with his family once he's released.
"You can't change the fact that they are his family," Norris said. "They love him and I know that they'll find a way."
Norris said Khadr has received some education in Guantanamo Bay and hopes that will continue so that he's able to reintegrate into the community.
Khadr has claimed in the past that he was abused at Guantanamo, but Canadian Foreign Affairs officials said they accept U.S. assurances that Khadr was treated humanely. Human rights groups and opposition parties in Canada have long criticized Harper's Conservative government for not doing enough for Khadr.
Canada's three opposition parties have long demanded that Harper's government bring Khadr home. He has received some sympathy from Canadians, largely due to his age and the torture allegations, but his family has been widely criticized.
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta signed off on Khadr's transfer in April. Panetta said in Ottawa earlier this year that sending Khadr back to Canada would be an important step because it would serve as an example to other detainees who are looking to return to their home countries or other places. Some Guantanamo detainees have been reluctant to agree to plea deals after noting that Khadr had remained in Guantanamo despite being eligible to leave since last October.
Suzanne Nossel, Amnesty International USA Executive Director, said the Guantanamo prison should finally be closed. She said Canada now has a chance to right what she called the many wrongs against Khadr and called for an investigation into Khadr's allegations of torture.
"Given the Obama administration's glacial pace towards closing the U.S.-controlled detention center, little and late though it is, today's news represents progress," Nossell said in a statement. "Khadr was imprisoned at the age of 15, subjected to ill-treatment and then prosecuted in a military commissions system that does not meet international fair trial standards. Growing up in Guantanamo and facing more prison time in Canada, his future remains uncertain."
The New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights released a statement calling Khadr's case "one of the ugliest chapters in the decade-long history of Guantanamo."
"Khadr never should have been brought to Guantanamo. He was a child of fifteen at the time he was captured, and his subsequent detention and prosecution for purported war crimes was unlawful, as was his torture by U.S. officials," CCR Legal Director Baher Azmy said.

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Think dogs and cats don?t express how they really feel? Think again.
Because a glimpse of our pets of the week shows not only do their wag their tails when they want to charm ? they also smile.
Take, for instance, Little Red, an 8-year-old Chihuahua who shows his teeth with a big, bright smile.?He?s a lapdog who enjoys being petted. Then there?s Meka, a sweet little girl who loves attention and can?t wait to say hello.
They?re both smiling in their pictures this week ? but there?s one thing that would make them smile even bigger: A forever home!

? Hells no. In fact, he?s really in my doghouse right now (literally; I?ve got the opening shored up with an ironing board and some gorilla glue). And that?s because yesterday the little panzer rat nearly got me into deep shit with the feds by getting himself sloppy drunk on Jack and Gingers and trying to hire an FBI agent posing as a computer hacker to break in and steal John Travolta?s downloaded gay porn collection. All part of some elaborate blackmail scheme that was supposed to end in a Grease 3, from what I could get out of his drunken babble.
Luckily for me, the cybercrimes guy had a sense of humor. And, strangely enough, his very own armadillo!
Go figure.

(Medical Xpress)?A new clinical research study at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) will test a first-of-its-kind cancer "vaccine" that may prove effective against many forms of solid-tumor cancers. The vaccine, to be investigated in a trial involving patients with brain cancer, generates an immune response that appears to put the target molecule, the cancer survival protein survivin, into a bind it can't escape.
The peptide vaccine, developed at Roswell Park by Robert Fenstermaker, MD, and Michael Ciesielski, PhD, is based upon a specially engineered small protein molecule called a "peptide mimic." Dr. Fenstermaker is principal investigator of the phase I clinical research study, which will test the safety and immunological effects of the vaccine in patients with two types of brain cancer: glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and anaplastic glioma. Called SurVaxM, the injectable vaccine will initially be given in four doses to nine patients.
Survivin, produced by at least 80% of cancers, is a protein that helps cancer cells to survive under stressful conditions. It is present only in diseased cells, which are caught in an unwinnable situation when exposed to the vaccine.
"SurVaxM puts cancer cells in a Catch 22," says Dr. Fenstermaker, who is Chair of RPCI's Department of Neurosurgery and Director of the Institute's Neuro-Oncology Program. "The vaccine kills tumor cells that express survivin. If the cells turn survivin off to escape the vaccine, they're essentially committing suicide."
The engineered peptide used in the vaccine is able to stimulate an immune response because the cancer recognizes it as a foreign molecule.
"We arrived at this peptide through reverse immunology," notes Dr. Ciesielski. "We knew we wanted to target survivin because it is expressed by so many tumors. We looked at many survivin peptides trying to find the best one to use as our vaccine. Once we identified one that looked promising, we engineered it to be more potent and produce a better response by enlisting multiple arms of the immune system."
In preclinical studies, the vaccine was effective against several cancers, including gliomas and prostate, ovarian, breast and kidney tumors that produce survivin. Studies in which human glioma, lymphoma and leukemia cells were exposed to the vaccine outside the body also produced a strong response. "In those earlier studies, the response was persistent," Dr. Ciesielski says. "It appears that the vaccine continues to provide lasting immunity after the tumor has been eliminated."
Roughly 15,000 people are newly diagnosed with glioblastomas and anaplastic gliomas in the U.S. every year. These cancers are very difficult to treat, and are often fatal.
"Survival rates for malignant gliomas have improved modestly over the last two decades, but better therapies are desperately needed," Dr. Fenstermaker says. "We're anxious to move ahead with this study and, hopefully, go on to larger studies in the years ahead, but we first have to show that this is a safe and well-tolerated drug for a group of terrible diseases."
Because they enlist the body's own cells to fight cancer, immune-based therapies generally have few adverse side effects. The trial is the fourth clinical research study launched through RPCI's Center for Immunotherapy this year.

A proposed $185,000 investment would create three jobs at a New Haven tool and die shop.
Glaze Tool and Engineering, 1610 Summit St., currently employs 23 people with average salaries of about $51,750. But the new manufacturing equipment would allow the 38-year-old company to add three more workers: two machinists earning about $35,000 annually and a tool and die employee paid about $65,000, according to a tax abatement application filed with the Allen County Department of Planning Services.
Abatements temporarily reduce the taxes paid on new buildings and equipment. If County Council approves the request next month, the company's taxes would be lowered $7,000 over five years.
Glaze produces products for the automotive, food, medical, heavy equipment and other industries, and also designs and builds special machines. It had about $2.5 million in sales last year.
The new equipment is expected to be installed by November, with the new employees in place by next June.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has placed itself among the most anticipated devices of the year. This is despite its different, larger form-factor, which manufacturers tried to introduce before, but failed to do so right. Of course, the announcement invitations are enough proof that the device is coming to the US soon, but here is a bit more to get excited about ? FCC filings.
There are 3 versions of the ?phablet? strolling through the Federal Communications Commission, all headed to their relative major carrier ? AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. We have the SGH-i317 for AT&T, the SCH-i605 for Verizon and the SGH-T889 for Verizon. All come with LTE-compatible radios. Even the T-Mobile version, which hasn?t yet launched its upcoming LTE network (some good future-proofing).
There is a bit of bad news attached to this FCC filing, though. Samsung made it seem like they were finally improving their strategy with the faster and headache-less Galaxy S3 release, but it seems we are back to the older ways. All carriers have the same Galaxy S3 variant with identical specs (except radios), which was not the case with the Galaxy S and S2.
Yes, there seem to be completely different versions of the Galaxy Note 2 coming to the states. Internals should be relatively similar, but differences in aesthetics can bring many issues. For one, it creates major compatibility issues with accessories. One may also not be satisfied with the variant dedicated to one?s carrier, making us go through the hassle of switching carriers (or conforming with a ?lesser? variant).
Well, at least it looks like this release will be much speedier. This was our major grunt about multiple device variants ? it usually causes device releases to be delayed. Everything seems to be going smoothly this time, so let?s wait until October 24th for the official announcement and see what Sammy has for us.

Near the end of the trailer for Wildcats, a 1986 sports comedy with a 13 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating, a voice-over actor informs prospective moviegoers that during the film, ?Goldie Hawn tackles the impossible.? The movie is about a woman who coaches a men?s football team, and the implication is that such an endeavor equates to doing that which is undoable.
Sadly, that disembodied voice from the mid-?80s was on to something. Huge numbers of otherwise reasonable people, in 2012, simply take it as a given that women couldn?t possibly coach a men?s sports teams. And so, regardless of ability, talent, or potential outcomes, a woman who aspires to lead a high-level men?s team is actually reaching for the near impossible.
There are exactly zero women working as coaches for the 122 teams playing in the NBA, MLB, NHL, and NFL. Zero head coaches, zero assistant coaches, zero assistant to the assistant coaches. The average NFL team employs 18 coaches. Major League Baseball teams have six coaches and a manager. Most NHL teams carry at least four coaches, and a typical NBA squad has one head coach and four to six assistants. All together, that?s more than 1,000 jobs ... all held by men. To state it another way: 50.8 percent of the U.S. population has virtually no shot of becoming men?s football, baseball, basketball, or hockey coaches at any level that would involve payment for services due.
OK, fine, they have a tiny shot: At the college level, women coach fewer than 3 percent of men?s teams. And three people?Bernadette Maddox, Jennifer Johnston, and Stephanie Ready?represent the entire universe of women who have served as coaches for Division I men?s basketball teams. They were all assistants.
There are, to be sure, some women coaching men?s teams at the more than 36,000 high schools in the United States?in fact, more women than ever before. But if one of these individuals resides in your town, you are in the tiniest minority. Case in point: Natalie Randolph, a teacher at Washington, D.C.?s Calvin Coolidge Senior High School, appears to be one of only two women serving as head coach of a high school football team in the United States.
Women coach women?s teams at all levels. But so do men. In fact, the percentage of women?s college teams coached by women, for instance, has shrunk considerably since the passage and implementation of Title IX. (In 1972, 90 percent of women?s college teams were coached by women?that number is now down to 42.9 percent. And according to this ESPN story, men have been hired for 68.5 percent of the college women?s team coaching openings filled since 2000.) This is by no means meant to suggest that coaching men?s teams should be valued more highly than coaching women?s teams or represent the ultimate goal for a coach. The point here is simply that choosing a coach from an inherently flawed and unnecessarily narrow universe of candidates is probably not the best way to proceed. Not to mention that coaching women generally pays far less than coaching men.
There are all sorts of reasons why women almost never coach men?s teams, most of which fall under the category of Catch-22s: the lack of women actively seeking these jobs due to existing norms that are reinforced at every athletic level, the dearth of female candidates with the type of experience that is valued by those filling positions to coach men?s teams, the lack of female role models who have successfully coached men, the persistence of discrimination and stereotypes that die slowly, etc. Basically: Women never coach men?s teams because they?ve never coached men?s teams. Then there are these loopy justifications that you?ve surely heard, or maybe even uttered yourself: Women don?t play some men?s sports competitively, so they couldn?t possibly be good at coaching those sports; men won?t take orders from, or sufficiently respect, women; women have no place in men?s locker rooms; and, of course, women are way too [insert your stereotype of choice here regarding emotional fragility] to successfully coach men?s teams.
Here is the point in this article at which I would love to combat all of the above with numerous examples of women coaches killing it in men?s sports. Only there?s not much of a well from which to draw. So let?s look at the rationales when applied to men.
The claim that is perhaps trotted out most often is the one about how women couldn?t effectively coach sports such as football and baseball that they don?t play competitively, and how they wouldn?t be successful coaching men in the sports women do play, because they haven?t competed in them against men or at the highest of levels. (Remember: This is not about women playing against men, where, in some instances, strength and muscular advantages are unmistakable factors.)

Facebook is a great marketing and PR medium where you could build brand loyalty among your customers and prospect constantly. However, it is also a place where you could destroy your brand unintentionally.
Don?t let the marketing PR mistakes invade your brand credibility
Hence, be aware of these 10 common marketing mistakes while marketing your business Facebook Page.
1.?When you?re Going Totally Out Of Point!
Your Facebook page must have a theme that is?closely?related to your brand. It must reflects what your brand sells or market to the world. You must share pictures and contents related to the things in your industry. If you are selling cars, your contents should be about cars and not about food or other things that are completely alienated from what your brand really is. However, till today, we can still see quite a number of Facebook brand pages going out of point. A sad case.
Unrelated Facebook posts are making your brand look super damn silly. Photo Credits:?Facebook Craze
2.?Tag Your Friends to my Pictures Now!
Please never ever try to ask people to tag their friends to your pictures. Worse still, don?t give them a specific number of friends to tag in order to exchange some kind of gifts from you. You?re courting death. Marketers may see that tagging is good to increase the brand?s exposure virally but it actually make things worse.
Be mindful your ?tagging? strategy
From a Facebook user?s point of view, it is very irritating when you are tagged into someone?s picture in which you are not inside. Out of a sudden, that funny & ?spammy? picture appeared in your profile page. First thing you would do, unfriend the friend who tag you without your permission; second thing, you block the company?s facebook page.
I UNFRIEND you!!
Hence, don?t abuse tagging as part of your marketing strategy.
3.?Cute Funny Things are just too easy to be SHARED
Funny faces, funny animals, funny babies and many other cute funny looking things are the easiest thing to be shared on Facebook. People just love cute stuffs, pets and people. However, if these things are not related to your brand, avoid putting them on your Facebook page at all costs.
Kangaroo: ?I guess, I am just too cute to be ignored. Share me?
If the cute things that are too cute for you to resist from sharing, you could just share it in your personal facebook profile and not your business page.?It will look ultra unprofessional and your brand will lose its positioning when people think that your brand is a joker who sells cute and funny things.
Mother Sheep to Little Sheep: ?Son, you must master the way of acting cute. So that, you could probably get a job someday.?
When it comes to business, stay focus. Funny cute and unrelated stuffs, stay away.
4.?Welcome to my Advertisement Bulletin
Facebook gives your brand a personality or a voice in the social media world. Your brand speaks and interacts with your clients and prospects. You educate your fans on the benefits of your brand so that it would position your brand well in their minds.
However, don?t use Facebook as your advertisement bulletin.
Facebook is not your advertisement bulletin board
You don?t have to constantly ask people explicitly through online offers and sales discounts, shouting out in each and every single post of your post, to make people buy your stuffs. Just remember, people don?t like to be sold. It is more of a pull marketing rather than a push marketing tool. Focus on educating and not hard selling.
Focus on the ?Soft? sell approach
5.?Professors in the Making
By putting too much technical jargon or scientific terms in your Facebook page, is akin to hitting your head to a wall. Bad strategy. Putting up too many profound stuffs on your Facebook page makes your page looks like a PHD textbook. Unless you want to make your Facebook fans professors, refrain from using complicated jargon in your posts.
Don?t put technical jargon in your Facebook page?
6.?Boring, boring, and just plain boring.
Being boring could ?kill? your Facebook fans. It will make people perceive your brand as a super duper boring brand. Therefore, you must think of interesting contents that can make people like it, comment on it as well as share it among their friends. Think out of the box or look for ideas in other brands? facebook pages so that you could come up with something interesting of your own.

7.?So what if Today?s is Your Boss? Birthday?
People don?t care whether today is your boss?, your boss? father?s, your boss? brother?s or your boss? cat?s birthday? People just don?t care whether your company has a party in Bali last night. People just want to know how your product or services is going to be of benefit to them? So, Talk business and give your clients what they are looking for in your brand.
Oh I see that today is your boss? birthday. So, is it my problem?
Don?t share things like employees? birthday, company outings and other nitty-witty stuffs. Well, sharing these things does make your company look very friendly like a good old neighbour next door, but in terms, it makes no sense at all.
8.?Let it Rots. Who Cares?
Monitor your facebook page regularly. Sometimes you will get naughty competitors who put nasty and untrue comments about your brand on your timeline. Be alert, if the comments are untrue, report the users and ban him or her from commenting on your Facebook forever.
Negative untrue comments can bring down the credibility of your brand. Hence you can?t let it rot and companies need to have a team to constantly manage the brand reputation on social media.
Don?t leave things rotting, manage your social media well
However if the negative comments are proved to be genuine, it is ok not to delete or hide them as spam. You could simply publish your apology openly to the said user so that this will make others perceived your brand as honest and transparent. Who in the world has no flaws? As a word of advice, do your own judgement in a case by case basis.
However, do leave some space for transparency
9.?You?must LISTEN to ME!
Till today, we still see some facebook pages, especially those of politicians or celebrity figures, being lack of the interaction element.
There is only a one way speech and not a two way dialogue. Brands would just behave like news anchor persons,?disseminating?information. And when people feedback, only the positive ones stay and the negative ones will be banned. There is hardly any dialogue between the brand and its fans. Such way of managing your brand facebook page may make your brand looks unauthentic in the eyes of the Facebook users.
Always maintain a Two-way interaction with your fans
10.?Free! Free! Freebies!!
Using free gifts, cool contests and lucky draws to entice people to like your brand Facebook page may be a good idea. However, don?t overdo it. It will make your brand look like a sugar daddy who always like to give away freebies.
Avoid being a ?sugar daddy? on Facebook
?
There is a saying, ?you?ll harvest what you soar.? By overdoing the freebies marketing, you will get a lot of non-loyal fans who are there for your free stuffs only and not because they love your brand?s products and services.
?You?ll reap what you?ve soar?
Hence in summary, in order to be a very successful brand on Facebook, always try to avoid these marketing PR mistakes at all times. Good luck!

There was some talk that Texas Instruments would be getting out of the mobile game a few days ago, but a TI rep has clarified the company's position just a bit. Mobile is still in the picture, but they're looking to make their products suitable for automotive, industrial, enterprise communication, vision, and robotics fields as well.
It's good to hear that TI isn't completely abandoning mobile, even if it means they won't be focusing on it in as specifically as before. I've seen some really impressive OMAP tech demos at TI's booth at the last two Mobile World Congress events, and it would be a shame to lose out on that innovation and see it head towards other sectors. On the other hand, with Samsung, Apple, Qualcomm, and Nvidia all in the mix, the smartphone and tablet processor market has become quite competitive.
OMAP 4 is still at the heart of Amazon tablets and a handful of other devices. Any big OMAP fans out there that are looking forward to version 5? Have you developed a preference for any particular type of processor?
