Homeschool Series: What Your 6th Grader Should Know : Ideas for ...


Your child is halfway through their homeschool education! I bet they are just as excited as you are or maybe you a re a bit sad. I know I was when my son got to the sixth grade.? I cried during lessons for the first week. Here is a few of things your child should learn this year:

Science

  1. Learn to use the scientific method to conduct an experiment.
  2. Learn to use the tools needed to conduct the experiment. This means knowing the names, how to use them, and how to read them.
  3. Learn to conclude whether your hypothesis was correct or not This includes listing why it was correct or wrong .
  4. Begin to learn human organs, tissues, circulatory, and respiratory systems.

Social Studies

  1. Learn about and understand elections and how they work.
  2. Learn about and understand how laws are made and changed.
  3. Learn to create a time line.
  4. Learn about trade and how it benefits America.

Math

  1. Master adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using both long hand and a calculator.
  2. Learn and understand ratios.
  3. Learn how to find the perimeter, area, and volume.
  4. Master liquid and dry measurements.

?

Remember these are but a few of the things your child will be learning this year.
