15 Major Summer Movie Mistakes

'American Pie'

There was so much "wrong" in the raunchy 1999 original, you may have actually overlooked any filming errors in the movie. Here, an unforgettable Sean William Scott moment, the cup plays (ahem) a key role. But, from one scene to the next, it changes in opacity. It starts out colored and becomes clear.

'Animal House'

The 1978 classic is considered one of the best comedies to date. In this scene, Dave Jennings (Donald Sutherland) is teaching about "Paradise Lost" but the word "satan" moves position along the chalkboard, and the font changes as well.

'Clueless'

"Well, I remember Mel Gibson accurately, and he didn't say that. That Polonius guy did." Who can forget when Cher (Alicia Silverstone) bests that college-aged know-it-all about 'Hamlet'? You may have been like, totally crushing on this valley girl satire since its release in 1995 but, as you can see, not everything about the film was perfect. As if! The rear view mirror conveniently vanishes, as to not obscure Josh's (Paul Rudd) face. (Not that we blame them...)

'Die Hard: With A Vengeance'

After swallowing his pride, John McClane gets up the nerve to call his estranged wife, Holly, in the 1995 "Die Hard" flick. Unfortunately, at this moment, he realized that Simon (Jeremy Irons) had left a clue on an aspirin bottle. The numbers, however, change position from one shot to the next.

'Dirty Dancing'

Don't let the twirling fool you! Patrick Swayze's Johnny was one tough dancer in this 1987 classic. When Johnny gives Robbie (Max Cantor), the two-timing waiter, a beat down he'll never forget, the scene also revealed a consistency error. In one scene, Swayze's belt was undone and the next, it's magically fastened.

'National Lampoons European Vacation'

In the 1985 comedy, the Griswolds take the old world by storm. During their vacation, Audrey Griswold (Dana Hill) had a Violet Beauregarde-esque dream, where she ate and ate and, eventually, her torso turned into a balloon. But, unreal as the scene may be, it's not helped by her blow-up suit peeking through her shirt.

'Ghostbusters'

In the celebrated 1984 hit, The Ghostbusters begin to get noticed for their spirt-sucking skills. However, the shot of our three heroes (Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray) caught on camera actually appeared after the picture was printed in the newspaper.

'The Parent Trap'

It's hard to keep things straight in 1998's "The Parent Trap." Here, Lindsay Lohan does double duty as Hallie Parker and Annie James. However, in one scene, Lohan is sporting a hair tie which changes color from one shot to the next.

'Independence Day'

With total inhalation on the line, it's hard to keep a lot of things straight. In the 1996 blockbuster, President Whitmore was busy comforting his daughter but, if you look beyond his fatherly affections, on the table a photo is swapped out for one of Pullman and the Dalai Lama.

'Jaws'

Amity Island lived in infamy after the Steven Spielberg 1975 thriller. However, the ferry, which brought passengers and their possessions to the island, is seen sporting the destination's name and, then, it vanishes.

'Now And Then'

Ah, the best friend summer film to end all best friend summer films. Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann and Ashleigh Aston Moore star as BFFs in this film which takes place during the summer of 1970. Here, you can see each of the girl's taped X's on the grass below their feet, which denote where they should be standing when the camera starts rolling.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'

In the first of many "Pirates" movies, Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) is seen onboard the Black Pearl, about to toss a gold medallion into the water. However, the medallion changes positions in her hand, from one shot to the next.

'Stand by Me'

The 1986 staple is the consumate coming-of-age flick. Four boys -- River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Wil Wheaton, Jerry O'Connell -- go on a search for the body of their missing friend. Here, Feldman and O'Connell take a load off. However Feldman, who was previously wearing an unadorned tee-shirt, is now all of a sudden sporting a necklace.

'The Dark Knight'

"You have nothing, nothing to threaten me with. Nothing to do with all your strength." Arguably one of the most intense scenes in the 2008 Christopher Nolan film, you can clearly see that Heath Ledger's The Joker changes the placement of his hands from one shot to the next during his face-off with Batman (Christian Bale).

'The Notebook'

You may have been too busy clutching your heart and/or sobbing uncontrollably to notice anything wrong in 2004's "The Notebook." But, dry-eyed, there are a few things wrong with the Ryan Gosling-Rachel McAdams led film. Here, we can see that their make-out sesh' was literally transportive. In a split-second, Noah and Allie move to a different spot along the house.
