Sanader Corruption Trial Set to Resume in Croatia :: Balkan Insight

The case is expected to continue with the testimony of Stefan Hurlimann, head of the Swiss company Xenoplast. Sanader allegedly deposited 5 million euros into a Xenoplast account as part of a bribery scheme involving Croatia's INA oil company.

In November 2011, Sanader was indicted for allegedly taking bribes worth 10 million euros from the Hungarian oil company MOL. He is accused of giving MOL a dominant position in INA. MOL was a shareholder in the Croatian firm, but Sanader is accused of giving MOL more authority in the company than its shareholding allowed.

According to unofficial information, the witness for the prosecution likely won't attend tomorrow's trial.

Hurlimann already said he would not testify and according to the Zagreb County Court, there are no indications that the head of the Swiss company has changed his mind.

Should the witness fail to appear in court, presiding judge Ivan Turudic will ask the parties to introduce new evidence.
